Keychain with Taurus (Zodiac sign) in even count peyote stitch
We continue a series of keychains with zodiac signs. Today is the turn of Taurus.
We will need:
- size 8 seed beads of seven colors; I used light-yellow, grey, pink-grey, blue, brown, black and red colors,
- nylon fishing line (0.2 mm thick) and a beading needle;
- a small piece of steel wire 0.5 mm thick (I used a straightened paper clip).
For weaving we will use the beading technique of even count peyote stitch.
I remind you that the basics of this beading technique you can learn from the tutorial here.
The whole beadwork requires a long line, so I recommend to take a line of a convenient length (about 1 meter). As soon as it becomes too short you should secure it, then take another segment of line, weave it into the beadwork and continue weaving using this new segment of line.
For the first two rows of the beadwork string onto the line 20 light-yellow beads. Place the set of beads at a distance of 15 cm from the free end of the line. Then take a piece of steel wire and pass it through all the even beads counting from the free end of the line. Those beads will make up the 1st peyote row and the skipped odd beads will make up the 2nd peyote row. Place all the beads as much as possible close to each other and pull the working end of the line tight. Pay attention that the working end of the line now exits from the extreme bead of the 1st row.
All the next beads we will add one at a time.
For the 3rd row add beads in the following sequence: 2 light-yellow, 6 black, 2 light-yellow.
After the each completed row the direction of weaving is reversed.
Continue weaving using the following pattern:
4th row: 3 light-yellow, 1 black, 1 light-yellow, 1 black, 1 light-yellow, 1 black, 2 light-yellow beads.
5th row: 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 6 black, 2 light-yellow beads.
At this stage the rows in our beadwork can be distinguished clearly, so you can remove the wire from the 1st row.
6th row: 3 light-yellow, 1 black, 1 grey, 1 black, 1 grey, 1 black, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown beads.
7th row: 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 6 grey, 2 light-yellow beads.
8th row: 3 light-yellow, 5 grey, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown beads.
9th row: 2 light-yellow, 6 grey, 2 light-yellow beads.
10th row: 2 light-yellow, 8 grey beads.
11th row: 2 light-yellow, 4 grey, 1 red, 1 grey, 2 light-yellow beads.

16th row: 2 light-yellow, 4 pink-grey, 3 grey, 1 light-yellow beads.
17th row: 2 light-yellow, 3 grey, 3 pink-grey, 2 light-yellow beads.
18th row: 2 light-yellow, 1 grey, 2 pink-grey, 3 grey, 2 light-yellow beads.

24th row: 1 light-yellow, 2 brown, 2 black, 2 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 blue, 1 light-yellow beads.
25th row: 1 light-yellow, 2 blue, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 black, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow beads.
26th row: 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 4 light-yellow, 1 brown, 3 light-yellow beads.
27th row: 1 light-yellow, 2 blue, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 3 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow beads.
28th row: 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 4 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 blue, 1 light-yellow.
29th row: 1 light-yellow, 2 blue, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 3 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow beads.
30th row: 2 light-yellow, 1 brown, 2 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 blue, 1 light-yellow, 1 blue beads.
31st row: 10 light-yellow beads.
32nd row: 10 light-yellow beads.
Weaving is completed. Now secure the ends of the line. First, secure the working end of the line: pass it through several beads across the beadwork, then trim off the excess line. After that thread a needle on the starting tail of the line, weave it into the beadwork in the same manner and then trim.
If you attach a ring or chain for keys to this beaded fabric, you can use it as a keychain.
