A bracelet in square stitch

Bracelet in square stitch with Love theme

Today we will make a bracelet using the technique of square stitch that we have already used in our tutorials. It will be a bracelet in a "love theme".

To make this bracelet we will need:
- size 8 seed beads of three colors: white, red and pink;
- nylon thread and a beading needle;
- clasp for a bracelet.

To weave the bracelet we will use the square stitch bead weaving technique. We used this weaving technique in our tutorials several times, so you can learn this technique in details here or here.

As usual, for all the beadwork you will need a very long thread, so I recommend you to start with a thread as long as you can comfortably manage (about 1 meter or so). As soon as it becomes too short, secure it, passing in a zigzag manner through several beads, and then trim it. After that take a new thread, weave it into the beadwork in the same manner and continue weaving using this new segment of thread.

Start weaving by making the first two rows. String onto the thread 4 white beads and place them about 30 cm from the free end of the thread.

Pass the needle through the first two beads from the free end of the thread.

Tighten the thread. You’ve got two beads in the 1st row and two beads in the 2nd row. For your convenience place the beadwork so that the threads come out from the lower row.

String onto the working thread 2 white beads.

Then pass the thread through the nearest bead of the upper row,

after that pass it in the opposite direction through the bead that lies right below and further through the first of just added beads.

Tighten the thread. The last two beads have lain close to the other beads in two rows: the first bead - in the lower row and the second bead - in the upper row.

In the same way continue adding beads by two so that they form two rows of beads. Repeat the last step 6 more times so that the each row contains 9 beads.

Now let’s number the rows of beads; the upper row is the 1st row and the lower row is the 2nd row. So, the threads are coming now from the 2nd row.

The quantity of beads in the each next row is the same; each row consists of 9 beads. And the beads in the rows are added one by one.

Continue weaving. The 3rd row consists of 9 white beads.

For the rows from 4 to 13 use the following pattern:
4th row: 2 white, 2 red, 5 white beads.
5th row: 4 white, 4 red, 1 white.
6th row: 1 white, 5 red, 3 white.
7th row: 2 white, 5 red, 2 white.
8th row: 3 white, 5 red, 1 white.
9th row: 2 white, 5 red, 2 white.
10th row: 1 white, 5 red, 3 white.
11th row: 4 white, 4 red, 1 white.
12th row: 2 white, 2 red, 5 white.
13th row: 9 white beads.

So we make a red heart on the bracelet.

Then we should weave on the bracelet the letters that form the word "LOVE" (each letter to be separated with a row of white beads), then again weave a heart and after that finish weaving with three rows of white beads. So, continue weaving using the following pattern:
14th row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
15th row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
16th row: 7 white, 1 pink, 1 white beads.
17th row: 1 white, 2 pink, 6 white beads.
18th row: 6 white, 2 pink, 1 white beads.
19th row: 9 white beads.
20th row: 2 white, 5 pink, 2 white beads.
21st row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
22nd row: 1 white, 1 pink, 5 white, 1 pink, 1 white beads.
23rd row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
24th row: 2 white, 5 pink, 2 white beads.
25th row: 9 white beads.
26th row: 1 white, 5 pink, 3 white beads.
27th row: 2 white, 6 pink, 1 white beads.
28th row: 7 white, 1 pink, 1 white beads.
29th row: 2 white, 6 pink, 1 white beads.
30th row: 1 white, 5 pink, 3 white beads.
31st row: 9 white beads.
32nd row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
33rd row: 1 white, 7 pink, 1 white beads.
34th row: 1 white, 1 pink, 2 white, 1 pink, 2 white, 1 pink, 1 white beads.
35th row: 1 white, 2 pink, 1 white, 1 pink, 1 white, 2 pink, 1 white beads.
36th row: 1 white, 2 pink, 3 white, 2 pink, 1 white beads.
37th row: 9 white beads.
38th row: 2 white, 2 red, 5 white beads.
39th row: 4 white, 4 red, 1 white.
40th row: 1 white, 5 red, 3 white.
41st row: 2 white, 5 red, 2 white.
42nd row: 3 white, 5 red, 1 white.
43rd row: 2 white, 5 red, 2 white.
44th row: 1 white, 5 red, 3 white.
45th row: 4 white, 4 red, 1 white.
46th row: 2 white, 2 red, 5 white.
47th row: 9 white beads.
48th row: 9 white beads.
49th row: 9 white beads.

Now we should attach clasps to the bracelet. First, attach a clasp using the working thread. Pass the thread through beads so that it comes out from the middle bead of the last row.

Then string a clasp onto the thread

and pass the thread from the reverse side through the bead from which the thread is coming out at the moment.

For better safety, make a few more turns through the clasp and the bead.

Secure the thread, passing it in a zigzag manner through several beads, and then trim the thread.

In the same manner attach another clasp, using the thread that remains at the other side of the bracelet.

The bracelet is finished!
