Beaded earrings in marine blue colors

Beaded bracelet and earrings in marine blue colors

Today we will make earrings which make up a set with a bracelet that we made earlier.
We will need:
- round beads of marine blue color: large, 8 mm in diameter, and small, 4 mm in diameter,
- size 10 seed beads of white color,
- two ear wires,
- nylon thread and two needles for weaving.

We will use the same technique of weaving that we used for the bracelet.
There are only two differences between the earrings and the bracelet:
a) the earrings are shorter than the bracelet;
b) the bracelet has clasps at both its ends and the each earring has an ear wire at only one end (the thread at the other end of the earring should be simply secured without any finding).

So, let’s start weaving.

Take a nylon thread with needles at both its ends. I used a thread 65 cm long for the each earring (it is more than enough but if you take a shorter thread, the weaving will be awkward).
String onto the thread four small round beads and one large round bead. Place the set of beads on the middle of the thread so that the large bead is at the right-hand side and the small beads are at the left-hand side.

Cross the right needle through the extreme left small bead.

Tighten the thread and place the set of beads so that the small beads lie above the large bead and the ends of the thread are directed upwards and downwards.

Then string one large round bead onto the upper end of the thread and three small round beads onto the lower end of the thread.

Cross the upper needle through the last added small bead.

Tighten the thread. The small beads have lain below the large bead.

Next, string three small round beads onto the upper end of the thread and one large round bead onto the lower end of the thread.

Cross the lower needle through the last added small bead.

Tighten the thread. The small beads have lain above the large bead.

Weaving of the earring’s base is completed. Now we need to decorate it with white seed beads. Choose the end of the thread that is directed to the side of the small beads. Continue weaving using only this end of the thread. We will secure the other end of the thread at the final stage of weaving.

Now string 5 white seed beads.

We need these seed beads to lie above the next small round bead. Thus skip the nearest small round bead and pass the needle through the next two small round beads (the 3rd and the 4th, if we count from the end of the earring).

Pull the thread tight.

Then string 5 white seed beads, skip the nearest small round bead and pass the needle through the next three small round beads.

Pull the thread tight.

Once again string 5 white seed beads, skip the nearest small round bead and pass the needle through the next small round bead (that is the last bead in the beadwork).

Pull the thread tight.

The earring is almost completed. Now we need to attach an ear wire to it.

First, string 5 white seed beads and pass the needle through the last small round bead, from its reverse side.

Tighten the thread.

Then pass the needle through the nearest 3 of just added white seed beads.

After that put an ear wire onto the thread and pass the needle from the reverse side through the seed bead from which the thread comes out at the moment.

Tighten the thread.

Now secure both ends of the thread: pass them through beads into the middle part of the beadwork, then tie knots and trim the tails of the thread.

The earring is finished!

In the same way make another earring to get a pair of earrings.

Together with the bracelet made in the same technique these earrings make up a nice beaded jewelry set.
