‘Pearls among hearts’ necklace

‘Pearls among hearts’ necklace

Thinking of the next beading tutorial, I wanted to embody a few ideas in a single item:
- at first, I wanted to make a beaded item for Valentine’s Day,
- at second, I wanted to make an item of beaded jewelry and most of all, a necklace,
- at third, that beaded item should be quite simple and shouldn’t need complicated weaving techniques and a large variety of materials,
- at fourth, despite of the above mentioned simplicity that beaded item should be original, elegant and attractive.

As a result, I made a necklace with heart-shaped elements and pearl beads. I called it the ‘Pearls among hearts’ necklace.

To make this necklace I used the beading technique of cubic right angle weave (CRAW) and a very simple range of materials:
- red color Czech seed beads of two sizes: 10/0 and 8/0,
- 10 mm pearl beads of white color,
- clasp for a necklace,
- nylon fishing line 0.2 mm thick and one or two beading needles (depends on the stringing method you use for making CRAW).

A dollar sign

Beaded dollar sign

Today we will make a dollar sign using the technique of cubic right angle weave (CRAW). This technique you can learn from the tutorials that are placed here (weaving using double thread stringing method) or here (weaving using single thread stringing method).

Cubic right angle weave (single thread stringing method)

CRAW rope

Today we will learn the beading technique of cubic right angle weave (CRAW). For weaving we will use a fishing line with one needle, so it will be a single thread stringing method of CRAW.

We will need:
- beads (you can use beads of almost any type and size, but for beginners I recommend to take seed beads of a large size; I used size 8 seed beads of two colors, green and blue);
- nylon fishing line and a beading needle (I used fishing line 0.3 mm thick).

Cubic right angle weave (double thread stringing method)

Beaded tetrahedral cord

Today we will learn not a beaded product, but a technique of beading - we will make a beaded rope in the technique of cubic right angle weave (CRAW).
This rope can be woven from beads of any size, but for beginners I recommend to take seed beads of a large size.
So we will need:
- seed beads #8 of two colors (I used light blue and yellow colors),
- thin fishing line and two needles for weaving.
