We continue a series of keychains with zodiac signs. Today is the turn of Scorpio. For beading we will use the technique of brick stitch.
We will need:
- size 8/0 seed beads of five colors; I used seed beads of light-yellow, gray, brown, yellow and green colors,
- nylon fishing line 0.25 mm thick and two beading needles (as usual in brick stitch, you can do with one needle only).
I remind you that the basics of brick stitch beading technique you can learn in this tutorial.
The whole beadwork requires a long line, so I recommend you to take a line of the convenient length (about 1 meter or so) and as soon as it becomes too short you should secure it, take a new line, weave it into the beadwork and continue weaving using this new segment of line.
Start weaving approximately at a distance of 25 cm from one of the ends of the line. For the 1st row of the beadwork use the technique of ladder stitch and make a single chain, consisting of 16 light-yellow beads.
For further weaving use only the longer end of the line. The shorter end of the line is not involved in weaving any more, so leave it alone for now. We will secure it at the final stage of weaving. If the needle on the shorter end of the line bothers you, you can take it off for now.
All the next rows weave using the technique of brick stitch. Please do not forget that at the beginning of the each row you should string two beads together, and all the other beads in the row add one by one. The direction of weaving the each new row is reversed.
Continue weaving using the following pattern:
2nd row: 4 light-yellow, 2 brown, 10 light-yellow beads;
3rd row: 11 light-yellow, 2 brown, 3 light-yellow;
4th row: 3 light-yellow, 2 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 brown, 1 light-yellow, 1 gray, 7 light-yellow;

24th row: 16 light-yellow beads.
Weaving is completed. If you want to use the beadwork as a keychain, attach a ring for keys to it.
After that secure the ends of the line. First, secure the working end of the line: pass it through several beads across the beadwork, then trim the excess line. Next, thread a needle on the starting tail of the line, weave it into the beadwork in the same manner and then trim.
The keychain is finished!
